FH6 Xbox Series X|S Performance
Forza Horizon 6 runs on both Xbox Series X and Series S with two graphics modes. Here are the officially confirmed specs and real-world performance data.
Graphics Modes
| Mode | Xbox Series X | Xbox Series S |
|---|---|---|
| Quality Mode | Native 4K @ 30fps | 1440p @ 30fps |
| Performance Mode | Dynamic 4K @ 60fps | 1080p @ 60fps |
| Storage Size | ~135 GB | ~130 GB |
Quality Mode
Max visual fidelity with ray-traced reflections, high-detail shadows, dense vegetation, and enhanced draw distances. Best for free-roam sightseeing and photo mode.
Performance Mode
Targets 60fps with dynamic resolution scaling. Series X maintains near-4K in most scenes; Series S uses 1080p with excellent anti-aliasing. Best for competitive racing and online play.
Real-World Performance
According to early technical tests:
- Both consoles deliver stable frame rates — no major stutters or visible frame drops
- Series X Quality mode retains almost all visual details vs Performance — the only difference is a slight resolution drop
- Series S Performance mode is "extremely beautiful for its price point" (PureXbox)
- No major asset culling between modes
Which Mode Should You Choose?
| If you... | Choose |
|---|---|
| Have a 4K TV, want best visuals | Series X Quality (30fps cruising) |
| Play competitively/online | Performance (60fps on both consoles) |
| Are on Series S, play mostly | Performance (1080p/60fps) |
| Do photo mode / sightseeing | Quality (higher resolution) |
You can swap modes anytime from the pause screen — even mid-session.
Xbox Series S Verdict
Series S holds up impressively at 1080p/60fps in Performance mode. The game uses high-quality upscaling and anti-aliasing, so it looks noticeably better than a standard 1080p game. If you're on Series S, Performance mode is recommended for most gameplay.
